The Oyo Renaissance Crusade (ORC) has commended the Oyo State Government, Governor Seyi Makinde, security agencies, and other stakeholders for their coordinated efforts that led to the safe release of teachers and schoolchildren abducted in Orire Local Government Area of the state.
The group described the successful rescue as a major relief for the victims' families, the education sector, and residents of Oyo State, saying the operation has reinforced public confidence in the government's commitment to protecting lives and property.
In a statement issued by its Director General, Comrade Yinka Gbadebo, the ORC praised the professionalism, resilience, and synergy displayed by the various security agencies involved in securing the release of the victims.
According to the group, the successful operation underscored the importance of effective collaboration among security institutions and government authorities in tackling security challenges.
"The professionalism, resilience and coordination demonstrated by the security agencies deserve commendation. Their commitment and sacrifices remain invaluable in safeguarding lives and maintaining peace across Oyo State," the statement said.
The ORC reserved special commendation for Governor Seyi Makinde, describing his intervention and leadership during the crisis as exemplary.
The group said the governor demonstrated empathy, urgency, and strategic coordination throughout the period of the abduction, ensuring that the victims were reunited safely with their families.
According to the statement, the governor's response reflected a leadership style that prioritises the welfare, security and dignity of the people.
"The Governor's handling of the unfortunate incident once again reflects a leadership style that places the welfare, security and dignity of the people above every other consideration. Rather than treating the incident as just another security challenge, Governor Makinde demonstrated empathy, urgency and strategic coordination that ultimately contributed to the successful outcome. This is the hallmark of responsive governance," the group stated.
The ORC further noted that the Makinde administration has consistently prioritised security through sustained investments in security infrastructure, intelligence gathering, support for security agencies and community-based security initiatives aimed at preventing crime and ensuring public safety.
While celebrating the safe return of the abducted teachers and pupils, the organisation also turned attention to the state's political future, urging residents to consolidate on what it described as the achievements of the present administration.
The group endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Movement (APM), Hon. Bimbo Adekambi, describing him as the most suitable candidate to sustain the developmental strides and security architecture established under Governor Makinde.
According to the ORC, electing Adekambi in the next governorship election would ensure continuity in responsible governance, strengthen the state's security framework and deepen people-oriented development policies.
"The safe return of these innocent teachers and children is more than a successful security operation; it is a practical demonstration of what purposeful leadership can achieve. We believe the people of Oyo State should build upon this foundation by electing the APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekambi, in the forthcoming gubernatorial election. Such a decision will guarantee continuity in responsible leadership, strengthen the state's security framework and consolidate the developmental vision established by Governor Seyi Makinde," the statement added.
The group also called on residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely intelligence, remaining vigilant and promoting peaceful coexistence in their communities.
It stressed that security remains a collective responsibility requiring the active participation of government, security operatives and members of the public.
The ORC concluded by congratulating the rescued teachers, pupils and their families on their safe return, expressing hope that Oyo State would continue to enjoy lasting peace, stability and sustained development under leaders committed to the welfare and security of the people.
