The Convener of the Anti-Land Grabbing Campaign, Hon. Dr. Audullahi Saheed Mosadoluwa popularly known as Ibile, has called on the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to undertake an independent review of an ongoing criminal prosecution and, where legally justified, temporarily discontinue the case pending the outcome of further investigations.
In a petition dated July 24, 2026, and addressed to the Attorney General, Mosadoluwa said his request was driven by the need to uphold justice, institutional integrity and public confidence in the criminal justice system.
Copies of the petition were also sent to the Chief Judge of Lagos State, the Inspector-General of Police, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission and the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Mosadoluwa, who identified himself as a concerned citizen, property rights advocate, Convener of the Anti-Land Grabbing Campaign, and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Harmony Gardens & Estate Development Limited, said his advocacy had consistently focused on protecting legitimate property rights, promoting the rule of law and ensuring institutional accountability.
According to him, the Office of the Attorney General occupies a constitutional position as the guardian of justice and the public interest, with the responsibility not only to prosecute criminal cases but also to ensure that justice is administered fairly and independently.
He urged the ministry to independently determine whether all relevant evidence, including both inculpatory and exculpatory materials, had been fully considered before the prosecution proceeds further.
Mosadoluwa further requested that if an independent review uncovers material inconsistencies, unresolved evidential issues or investigative deficiencies, the Attorney General should consider temporarily discontinuing the prosecution until a comprehensive investigation is concluded, where permitted by law.
He listed several issues he believes deserve independent examination, including whether all relevant evidence was objectively evaluated, whether investigative reports contained inconsistencies, whether procedural irregularities occurred during the investigation, and whether any material facts were omitted from the investigative or prosecutorial process.
The petition also called for a review of whether any individual improperly sought to influence investigators, witnesses, prosecutors or public opinion, and whether any police officers, public officials or private individuals acted outside their lawful authority during the investigation.
Mosadoluwa also requested a review of whether prosecutorial advice was based on a complete assessment of the available evidence and whether any additional criminal conduct uncovered during further investigations should be referred to the appropriate authorities.
He stated that his overriding concern was ensuring justice in the case involving the late Prince Ademola Akinloye, adding that the deceased's family deserved the truth while the public deserved confidence that every aspect of the investigation had been conducted professionally, impartially and without improper influence.
"If the evidence ultimately establishes criminal responsibility against any individual, the law should take its full course. Equally, if further investigation reveals material deficiencies or additional evidence, those matters should be fully addressed before justice reaches its final conclusion," he said.
Mosadoluwa maintained that he had no personal relationship with the accused person and no personal interest in the outcome of the case, stressing that his intervention was solely motivated by a desire to ensure a fair and transparent judicial process.
He also stated that, subject to the orders of the court and applicable law, he would be willing to stand as a surety if bail were granted, explaining that his position was based on the constitutional principle that every accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
The petitioner urged the Attorney General to give the request careful consideration in the interest of justice, the rule of law and public confidence in the administration of criminal justice in Lagos State.
